In the early 60’s diploma in Ayurveda viz., DSAC and DAM existed.
In 1967, Graduate course in Ayurveda was started i.e., Bachelor in the System of Ayurveda Medicine (BSAM) which was affiliated to Bangalore University, imparting Ayurveda with the intake of 30 students.
BSAM Degree course period –Five years and Six months with compulsory internship.
BSAM to BAMS -BSAM Degree was changed to BAMS Degree course in 1977.
Currently the Degree offered is BAMS Ayurvedacharya with four and half year’s degree course with one year internship. Ever since institution has started, it is rendering quality value based Ayurvedic education to the student faculty and humane service to the public by providing the best health care. The institution provides Ayurvedic education at Graduate, Post Graduate which is regulated by the statutory Apex body –Central Council of Indian Medicine (C.C.I.M) affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science, Bangalore Karnataka.
The college offers under graduate, post graduate and Ph.D courses in Ayurveda. The SJIIM hospital premises are within the campus. The 225 bedded hospital and well equipped OPD with a daily attendance of around 250 to300 patients and a vast herbal garden give the students hands on experience and brings in them zeal towards the art of healing.
